Learn to track alchemical symbols and themes in your dreams
Alchemy—like tarot or mythology—is an archetypal system that depicts psychological dynamics in symbolic form. What makes alchemy unique is its liminal quality; it was a practice both concrete and spiritual, seeing the spark of psychic life in the material world. Each of the alchemist’s concepts, techniques and creations are coded in this double-face, providing a lush archetypal backdrop to explore our inner world via the transformations of matter.
This means we can draw upon alchemy as an inner work resource and tool. Of late, I have been paying special attention to my dreams, identifying where subtle (or explicit) alchemical themes are present. It’s been such a rich and exciting evolution of my dreamwork practice, one that I will be sharing over the next month here in The Artemisian’s membership!

Have you ever dreamed of catastrophic floods, cooking with a roaring fire, flying freely through the open sky, or descending deep into the earth?
Dreams of this nature reflect the elemental operations of alchemy — symbolic and practical processes rooted in fire, water, air, and earth. They arise during times of profound psychological change, highlighting essential themes and dynamics that help us navigate growth and evolution.
In this month’s workshop, we will explore elemental dream imagery through an alchemical lens, learning how the operations of calcinatio, solutio, sublimatio, and coagulatio illuminate the forces shaping our lives, and how we can work with them consciously to support clarity, insight, and personal transformation.
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
Understand elemental dreams through a Jungian and alchemical lens
Recognize fire, water, air, and earth imagery in dreams and how each element relates to inner and outer dynamics
Identify which alchemical operation (calcinatio, solutio, sublimatio, or coagulatio) is active in your dream life
Work with dream symbolism to gain clarity and orientation for your inner work
Please bring an elemental dream (featuring fire, water, air, or earth) to work with in class. This can be a dream from the past or a recent one.
