Right away the hooded falcon - in training - in the grounded, comfortable, disciplined nine of pentacles - was eclipsed by the open wingspan and placement above of the angel in The Lovers card. Perhaps the union of training / cultivating with faith / trust - placing spirit in a higher position

That's an interesting detail that I didn't pick up on. It's so fun to uncover those sorts of connections in the cards. Great interpretation!!

The querent's conscious perception is open, eager, scanning for options from a wide, adventurous angle—ready to take the next step. Yet what holds them back is the unconscious, rooted in the Nine of Pentacles: comfortable, self-sufficient, content exactly where it is. A pull between two opposing forces—expansion versus stability.

Reconciliation comes through The Lovers. Not a demand to choose one side over the other, but an invitation to unite them. The choice is not between moving or staying—it's how to bring both into alignment and find the middle ground. A union of opposites. Divine unity. A marriage in between…..

I really like your 9 of Pentacles interpretation! It didn't strike me that way initially, but it's very much a sort of rigid, shadow position for the ease and comfort to fuel their uncertainty and indecision. "I'm comfortable where I am, why change?"

Thanks for sharing!

The 2 of wands is the situation. Do you follow the dream or not. The 9 of Pentacles, to me, says that this person may have a level of comfort now in the material realm, but also may have a wealth of subconscious material to draw on as an artist. The lovers to me feels like either they are in a relationship that could support them or they may need one to help support them as they make the leap.

I found the 2 of Wands to be such an interesting pull for the conscious situation. As you're saying, it really is a poignant reflection of, "will you follow the dream or not?!".

And yes, the 9 of Pentacles speaking to a level of comfort or ease materially that they may not recognize consciously. That it could be used to fuel their art is key!

The Lovers as relationship intrigues me! Might it be a valuable business partnership, a family member, a spouse?

Thanks for sharing your interpretations :)

I work dialogically, so would invite further reflections:

Card 2: What have others told you about your talents and skills? What are you denying or uncomfortable with about your self?

Card 1: What vision and dreams do you have about the future? How have they become important over time?

Card 3: What internal conflicts arise between these two perspectives? What are the factors that can aid in pivoting between these two perspectives? Have you considered marrying the two options instead of choosing just one?

Your questions for card 2 hit on something I was considering as well. With the 9 of Pentacles in the unconscious perspective, it feels as if the querent might be struggling to access a sense of self that feels the ease and capability usually found in this card. That they might be denying or uncomfortable with owning that speaks to their uncertainty while on the precipice of change.

Card 1 definitely emphasizes this point of choice and reflection. When you envision the future, does this change seem aligned with it?

I like how you're bringing in the question of internal conflict with the Lovers. So often we think of the varying perspectives/aspects as harmonious, fitting in nicely with one another. Here, I do think there is an emphasis on their differences, which in the end may be quite complementary.

The serendipity of my reading this post, with these cards, is very on point for the time and day. I am going to try a reading for myself using this 3 card spread. I'm not going to be in attendance for your class. Hope it's OK to use the set up for my personal use. 🙂

It’s so interning when that happens! Were you able to come up with some interpretations for the cards?

And yes, please feel free to use the spread :) I hope you find it helpful!

Just did the spread and feeling a little lost about the nine of swords in the reconciliation position.

Inclined to think it means stop catastrophizing. Still have to give it a little more time for it to make sense.

Difficult cards in positions like that can be tough to decipher.

I would consider, how might meeting the overwhelm and intensity depicted in the XI of Swords help with the situation at hand? And, how does it relate back to card 1 and 2, since it is meant to be a uniting force.

Thanks for the prompt Alyssa, these are my thoughts 🙏

9 of disks is the stable 9 to 5 job. 2 of wands is the potential of the new project - a dream come true. 9 of disks looks towards the 2 of wands, 2 of wands looks towards 9 of disks. One represents safety and one risk - in the lovers card they are together and the wings of creativity open above them.

I want to ask the querent “what happens if you don’t take this opportunity? What happens if you turn it down? Will you feel better in 3 to 6 months that you stayed where you are secure?”

Then “what happens if you leave the safe role and set out into the unknown and it doesn’t work? How will you feel in 6 months if the opportunity doesn’t pan out?”

Then “what happens if you do what you are doing now, nothing, and the opportunity passes you by? How will you feel about that in 3 to 6 months?”

Then “what would the part of you represented by the 9 of disks card need to hear to make it possible to tal the risk and step towards the 2 of wands?”
