The Heroine’s Quest series is officially underway! Our first workshop explored the myth of Psyche & Eros, which many tend to only view as a tale of romantic love gone awry.
Though the relationship between Psyche & Eros is important, we considered how her sisters and the great underworld goddess Persephone play a more central role to her development and transformations—a perspective I find rich and provocative (inspired by mythologist and scholar Christine Downing).
Viewing Psyche’s story from this angle places the center of focus and energy of the myth squarely in the archetypes of the feminine, which is one of the hallmarks of the heroine’s journey.
